Description

Drive Power Neb Ultra Nebulizer is a lightweight nebulizer ideal for those who need to maintain proper lung function. Its small size makes it highly portable for use while away from home. The Power Neb Ultra Compressor Nebulizer by Drive Medical can deliver a fine medicated mist while operating efficiently. People with respiratory difficulties, such as asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), or Cystic Fibrosis, receive doctor prescriptions for medications that minimize or manage the symptoms of their disease. These medications are often in liquid form, requiring nebulization to deliver to the lungs. Nebulizer systems may be for use every day or periodically as symptoms present themselves. Often the symptoms increase during periods of high pollen when hay fever or allergies manifest. Many patients with severe airflow obstruction will derive subjective and objective benefits from home nebulization.1

FAQs

What is a compressor nebulizer?

It is a machine that functions as an air compressor that turns liquid medications into an aerosol form to help treat respiratory illnesses. A tube connects from the compressor to the medicine dosage container. The container connects to a mouthpiece that allows the patient to breathe in the medication mist.

How does a compressor nebulizer work?

Most medicines for use with a compressor nebulizer system are in a liquid form. The medication pours into a nebulizer container, which inserts into the nebulizer. The compressor attached to the nebulizer's flexible tubing provides pressure and airflow that breaks down the liquid medication into a very fine mist. This mist, or aerosol cloud, propels out of the nebulizer. The inhaled mist goes into the lungs where the medication absorbs into the body.

What is the nebulizer treatment procedure?

A nebulizer is the best delivery method of liquid medication to the lungs. Some users may find it challenging to use a nebulizer, especially young children. When nebulizers do not provide optimal delivery for an individual, an aerosol mask may substitute. During treatment, the breathing pattern of the patient should be slow and deep. The patient should sit up straight and breathe in deep. A deep breath completes when the patient's lungs are full of air and inhaling any additional air is not feasible. The patient should then hold their breath for 1-2 seconds for optimal absorption unless otherwise directed by a physician. Then slowly exhale through the nebulizer mouthpiece or mask. Repeat this breathing pattern for 5 to 20 minutes, until all the medication is gone. Then, turn off your compressor and clean your nebulizer.

How long are nebulizer treatments?

Treatments usually last from 5 to 15 minutes. The duration of the treatment depends upon how long it takes to consume all of the prescribed medication.

How often should treatments take place?

Consult with your doctor, but most often, treatments take place when the patient exhibits symptoms or at four- to six-hour intervals, depending upon the medication.

Are there side effects of treatment?

Possible common side effects include thirsty feeling, hoarseness, dysphonia, oral candidiasis, perioral dermatitis, and tongue hypertrophy.2 In another asthma study, researchers found that side effects are common "but well tolerated".3
